Market Movers for the week 3 – 7 October 2016

The last two weeks, now behind us, were filled with fundamental market movers, amongst which were definitely the monetary policy meetings of major central banks.

Warranting a mention among this week’s market movers are other scheduled monetary policy meetings, such as the Australian central bank meeting to make a decision on interest rates on Tuesday, 4 October. Once again, economists are convinced that the Reserve Bank of Australia will not touch rates.

On the topic of meetings, the economic calendar forecasts a meeting of the ECB at 9:00 on 5 October. In this case, however, the meeting will not be focusing on monetary policy for the Eurozone.

On the macroeconomic front, among the market movers this week, we have data on the Eurozone retail sales to be released at 11:00 on Wednesday and in addition, the data on US Non-Farm Payrolls which will be released at 14:30 on Friday, 7 October.
